7digital What we said: From composing operas to staging Judy Garland-themed concert extravaganzas, Rufus Wainwright has always delighted in combining his passions for music and theatre. Even so, this latest project is arguably the multi-instrumentalist songwriter’s most ambitious project yet, due to him taking inspiration from the strongest source material possible. Released to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Bard’s death, Take All My Loves finds Wainwright setting a selection of Shakespeare’s sonnets to gorgeous, orchestral compositions, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. There’s a star-studded cast of collaborators too, including dramatic readings from Carrie Fisher and Helena Bonham-Carter, and soaring vocals from Florence Welch and acclaimed soprano Anna Prohaska.
